Frequently Asked Questions
The Void is a fictional audio drama, set in the small town of Milton. Milton may seem quaint on the surface, but the woods surrounding town are cursed. They call it The Void, and nobody comes back alive. Our story focuses on Sam, a 17-year-old that finds himself desperate to escape the invisible clutches of The Void. You’ll join Sam and his friends on the epic journey of a lifetime as they challenge all they thought they knew. It’s fun and entertaining fiction, but surely we can all see a little of ourselves in the story and recognize those things that trap us.
The Void is an audio drama, a narrative told entirely through sound, like a modern day War of the Worlds. In modern audio drama, story is told using any combination of verbal narration, character dialogue, sound design and effects, and well placed, mood setting music. The void uses all of these devices to convincingly tell a story. Think of it like watching a movie with your eyes closed! In my opinion, a good audio drama tells a beautiful story but allows you to use you own imagination to see yourself in the story, in a way film just can’t do.
The modern audio drama is certainly a close cousin to the audiobook. However, there are some pretty significant differences. First, and probably most obvious, audiobooks are exclusively based around a book. It is the literal reading aloud of a book. Audio dramas can be, but usually aren’t based off of a published work. They are their own original story. Another major way these two categories divert is in their styles of production. Audiobooks are typically read by a single narrator (that reads every character). An audio drama will generally have a different voice actor that plays each character, enhanced by music and sound design. I believe a well produced audio drama is much more immersive and enjoyable than an audiobook (just my opinion!).

Yes. In every traditional sense, The Void is family-friendly. There are no curse words, no sexual references, and no graphic content. However, there are tense moments. The woods are cursed after all! If you have young children you may want to preview the content first to feel it out.
